We planned to stay 90 days, but checked out after our first week and went to a competitor. We’d stayed before and liked having a four-burner stove with an oven and a full kitchen sink. The rooms have now been “upgraded,” but the changes didn’t work for us. They replaced the stove with two burners built into the counter, and they only heat half a pot. The oven was replaced by a cheap microwave that leaves ice in the food. The carpet is gone, replaced by hardwood floors, and the large two-compartment sink is now a tiny bar sink that fits two dishes. These aren’t improvements in our opinion. The renovation work was also very loud and kept me awake. The people are nice and the rooms are clean, but we didn’t find the new setup appealing. They lost several months of income from us.

The beds were comfortable, clean, and free of bugs. Appliances worked, there were hangers in the large closet, shower pressure was good, towels were soft, and the lights were bright. The room and bathroom were clean and looked newly updated. The kitchen wasn’t stocked, but I’d been told that when I called before booking. Checkout was smooth, and the hotel is a little off the beaten path but still near dining and shopping. Getting into the room was a mess. I asked whether there was an elevator because I had tools, and was told there wasn’t one. I’d requested a first-floor room, and staff said I could get to it without stairs by moving construction cones to unload my truck. When he showed me the room, he took me through a maze of stairs. I went back to the desk, kept the reservation, paid in full, moved the truck past the cones, and found three steps at the entrance. Three steps is a lot when your tools weigh around 1,000 pounds. I was angry, and had to carry the boxes down one at a time, knowing I’d have to take them back up in the morning. A guest was yelling and swearing on her phone in the hallway when I finally got in. I know that’s not the hotel’s fault, but it did make me think about the area. Other room issues: the fridge doors opened the wrong way and made it hard to get to the fridge without hitting the bed, a microwave leg was missing so we wedged trash under it, and the old heating and AC unit seemed to blow only hot or cold regardless of the dial. The shade chain was broken, though at least it was down so nobody could see in. The toilet barely flushed, so I had to put toilet paper in the trash. Ladies, bring a hair dryer. There was just one small bar of soap and one tiny shampoo bottle. Lock and alarm your vehicle. There were questionable people around. Someone tried to sell “brand new” tools to my work buddy in the parking lot, then approached him a second time in the hallway.

We came for Louder than life and had a great stay. The hotel was clean and quiet, near a lot of places we needed, and only 20 minutes from the festival. The room was large with a kitchen, but there were no utensils, so we stopped to buy some. The bathroom was clean, everything else was great, and the front desk helped when we needed it.

This was our first time staying here for Louder Than Life, and my husband and I will definitely be back. It’s our kind of hotel. The staff were so kind when I made a mistake with our reservation. There’s no elevator, and because of heart issues I can’t manage stairs, so they put me on the first floor. I’m really grateful. Nobody tried to come clean while we were there either, which I appreciated since staff usually still try even when I put out the do not disturb sign. The full kitchen was great. It would only be better if it were a little closer. Thanks again, see you next year!

I booked this place because it was cheap, allowed dogs, and had a kitchen. For a week-long stay with my dog, I thought I could save money and cook instead of eating out every day. But the kitchen had no pots, pans, or silverware, so what’s the point of having one if I have to bring all the cookware? The room was filthy, with ants and a woman’s hair in the bathroom. I’m a man, so it wasn’t mine. The sink drained poorly, the desk looked ready to break, and the “breakfast” was just coffee. When I told the front desk, they said I should have mentioned it so they could move me. That felt like they were blaming me for a bad stay. I’d called on check-in day because I’d arrive early and was assured the room was ready. After seeing the condition of that “ready” room, why would I expect the others to be any different? An emergency made me leave a day early. At first they wouldn’t give me a full or partial refund for the last night. I accepted that, since I had planned to stay that night anyway. But the pet charge was charged by the night, so I asked if that could be refunded. They said they had to check with the manager and it might not be. I said I’d call Monday if I didn’t hear back. Update: they called me back and refunded the final night. I wish they’d handled it when I checked out, but I appreciate that they took care of it. I think they did it because of my review. I changed my rating from one to two stars and the service rating from one to three. Please do better.
