I didn't switch hotels because I was in town for my sister's medical procedure and didn't have time to find somewhere else. After scrubbing the areas I planned to use, I decided to stay in the room and wear shoes or slippers because the floors needed vacuuming. I had asked to change rooms, but honestly didn't believe another one would be cleaner. The dirt was extensive. Bits of dried food, dust, and debris covered the carpet and tile, especially along the walls, and dried crumbs lined the kitchen cabinet baseboards. A large dried bugger was stuck on the wall by the desk. The kitchen counter, stove, fridge handle, coffee pot, and microwave were dirty, as was the only mug. There was one butter knife and no other utensils. The refrigerator interior was clean. The tub had dust and soap buildup; the bathroom counter and backsplash were dirty, and there was a gray handprint and short black hair on the tub surround. The blow dryer was filthy with old dust and fingerprints on its switch. Its plug and the outlet were grimy. The makeup mirror and both bedroom door handles were layered with dust. The bedding was clean but ripped and frayed at the top; the pillowcases were clean, though the pillows were lumpy. The foyer table was dusty, and the foyer and hallway to the elevator looked as if they hadn't been vacuumed in months. I used Palmolive soap and a very old non-scratch sponge from under the sink to clean the tub, bathroom and kitchen counters, sink, and coffee pot. I brought paper towels to rinse and dry the counters and coffee pot, and used damp ones on the blow dryer handle and bedroom side tables. I brought my own makeup mirror, so I left the bathroom one alone. After checking in, I was told there was no cleaning service and I had to go to the front desk for anything I needed. But I saw cleaning staff the next day. I tried three times at the front desk to speak with the manager about the room. He never contacted me during or after my stay, though staff assured me he knew about it. I got a small discount for the dirty room, but never received a copy of the bill, even after asking by phone.
The suite and breakfast buffet were great, and they were very welcoming to our dog. I'd definitely come back. Reception wasn't very friendly, though, and the bathroom had just one big light that didn't work. With the door shut it was pitch dark. We called right away, but they couldn't replace it, so we went the whole stay without bathroom light. They shouldn't assign a room like that if they can't fix it first.
I especially liked the soaking tub and comfortable bed, and the two-room suite had a kitchen where I could cook and have a couple of local family members over. The young man at the desk made check-in easy and explained things well. My room was clean and had the amenities I needed for a stress-free stay. The public spaces were clean and easy to get around. Breakfast was hot and fresh, with plenty of options. I've already recommended the place to friends and family and hope to stay again. One thing that bothered me was how the room doors shut automatically and slammed. It was unnerving late at night and early in the morning.
Jaylen made my family feel so welcome from the minute we arrived. He was friendly, professional, and paid real attention to us. He went out of his way to make sure everything was right and answered all my questions without making me feel like I was interrupting his work. Thoughtful, consistent service like that is rare. Jaylen is a real asset to the hotel, and I'd happily stay again because of him. Highly recommend!
We stayed on the fourth floor, in 424, on Christmas Eve and Christmas night. The price was a huge value for us since it was among the cheapest rooms near my family's gathering, and I think the top rating is deserved even though there were a few things to complain about. It was clean and comfortable, the Wi-Fi worked well, and the noise was moderate. The staff we met were polite and helpful. Some finishing touches were lacking, and there were a few odd quirks. Maybe they had less staff over Christmas, or chose to schedule fewer people: trash overflowed on our floor, and breakfast was below average. The front room lighting was oddly dim. A glass pane in the bedroom door let enough light through from that room to wake people when someone got up to use the bathroom. Now that I think of it, I don't remember any Christmas decorations.
