Residence Inn by Marriott Louisville East/Oxmoor

We had a great stay in a queen suite. It was spotless, spacious, and had what we needed to feel at home. The hotel is lovely and well maintained, and felt welcoming as soon as we walked in. Everyone on staff was kind, polite, and attentive. We’ll definitely come back, and I’d recommend staying here.

The location is great, the rooms are comfortable and spacious, and the place feels cozy. The staff were generally excellent, especially Maria and Magali, who I really liked. But the housekeeping situation for longer stays was awful. Cleaning was offered after the third day, and then only if you asked. In nearly 20 days, my room was cleaned twice, once because someone was sent and once after I requested it. Meanwhile, I had to gather my trash every day and leave it outside the room, and hunt down a cleaner in the hall whenever I needed fresh towels or sheets. I left early twice without time to do that and had to use dirty towels. I ran out of bathroom supplies and trash bags, eventually asking the cleaning lady for a whole roll of bags. With no supplies to clean the bathroom myself and so little service, it got unpleasant and smelled bad. I was paying the same as people coming and going, but it felt like long-stay guests were being neglected. I’d been happy during the first week, but as the days passed I was really disappointed. The main kitchen light also broke, leaving me in the dark for two days in a kitchen I used a lot. Their billing was confusing too: they took varying amounts in several withdrawals that didn’t match what I expected, so I called my bank to check if something was wrong. I travel often and usually hotels charge the full amount in one transaction; I’d never seen this kind of mess before. I had nine more nights booked, but canceled and moved to Spark by Hilton, where I’m staying now, because they offered daily cleaning, which is what I expect from a hotel. I feel I wasted my money and didn’t get the experience I expected from a hotel of this caliber. They should change this. I’d seen other reviews complain about the same thing and ignored them, but it happened to me too.

Miss Nikki deserves special thanks. We had a last-minute change, and she worked with us to make sure our needs were met, and even exceeded. It’s great running into people like that. Kudos to the whole team for handling an extremely busy day and weekend while making sure everyone was taken care of.

The hotel was clean and nice, the staff friendly, and the location convenient, with lots of businesses and malls nearby. We booked a room with a kitchen, and it came fully equipped for cooking. The only small issue was that the shampoo and soap bottles were mounted so high my kids couldn’t reach them in the shower. We still enjoyed our stay. 😀
