Best Western Mason Inn

I've stayed here twice and really like the amenities. But on Mother's Day morning, I saw a front desk staff member blow and spit on the waffle iron, supposedly to clear away crumbs. That was disgusting and showed a real lack of hygiene knowledge.

A really good affordable hotel, with a clean, quiet feel and a great location. I did spot a few ants around the breakfast bar, which concerned me a bit, though maybe they came in with the change in weather. Apart from that, everything was great.

My husband and I come here often for staycations, mostly to unwind in the pool and hot tub. The staff are really friendly, the rooms have always been nice and clean, and breakfast is decent. I recommend it to everybody. Actually, scratch that, stay away! Lol

After driving four hours, I checked in, dropped off my bag, went to see the lights at the zoo, and then had dinner with family. When I came back and sat down to take off my shoes, I spotted a cockroach on the floor. I flushed it with a tissue from the bathroom. The room was near the stairs, so I gave it the benefit of the doubt that one might have wandered in. About 15 minutes later, another was on the wall while I was watching TV. I got rid of that one too, then packed. On my way out, I saw a third. I told SAV, the employee, but he said he couldn't see any and wanted me to help look for more. I declined. After a lot of discussion, we tried another room, and he put me on the same floor, a few rooms down from the clearly infested one. I asked to check out and get the deposit and the room charges for the lights refunded. He said he couldn't check me out and would change the dates after he could charge, or something like that. I got my cash deposit back, but he wouldn't give me a checkout receipt. I had to book another room at the ac hotel in mason oh area for $430.00.
