Hampton Inn Lubbock

The people working there were courteous and professional. The front desk employee was friendly, as was the woman serving breakfast, and that’s the only reason I’m giving two stars. Everything else about the hotel was awful, especially for the $1,391.48 we paid for two rooms for two nights for our family. The lobby felt like a run-down hallway, and the old carpet was stained and looked overdue for replacement. In the bathroom, the tub was dirty and the drain barely worked, so shower water pooled quickly. It felt unsanitary. When I got home, I took another shower right away because I still felt dirty. One of the worst hotel stays I’ve had, particularly at that price.

I would have slept better in my car. Instead, I spent the night feeling poisoned and like I needed a bath in bleach. The whole hotel smelled of mold, mildew, and neglect, and the carpet looked like something was crawling in it. The remote was sticky and disgusting to touch, the toilet seat was just as bad, and there weren’t even trash bags in the bins. I’ve never had to hover over a toilet seat before. I could keep listing things, but this was the worst Hilton I’ve ever stayed in. I won’t return, and I’ll tell people to avoid it and write to Hilton headquarters. I hope this review changes someone’s mind so they don’t go through the same hotel abuse, and I hope the place closes before anyone else has to deal with it.

We were worn out after driving 12+ hours and didn’t make a fuss when we got to the room, even though the lights didn’t work and there was a hole in the bathroom ceiling. My husband said the receptionist at the desk had been literally falling asleep while booking our room. We mentioned the ceiling hole politely the next morning, and the manager just said, “oh yea we know”. It would’ve been good to know beforehand. I didn’t feel comfortable showering that night.

Having several good restaurants nearby made meals easy and enjoyable. The hotel itself, though, is pretty dated and needs repairs. The location is a real advantage, but the property’s condition needs work to make the stay better.
