SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western Lubbock Medical Center

My husband spoke with the owner, who was very friendly, and things ended fine. We were safe, but I still didn’t feel comfortable taking off my clothes and getting into the sheets. We had a weapon and a dog, which gave me some comfort. We chose a cheaper room thinking we’d only be there for 12 hours, but I wouldn’t recommend a woman stay here alone. If you drink more than one cup of coffee in the morning, don’t stay here. Enter at your own risk.

The room was clean, and both the heating and AC worked fine. There was lotion but no body soap, though that didn’t bother me much. Service was trouble-free, even when I stopped at the bar for a nightcap. The location worked for me, with grocery stores, restaurants, and my destination all a short drive away. Noise was mostly okay, though it could’ve been better. Sirens woke me up and went on for about five minutes.

They remember us and what we like each week, and the service is what makes this place for us. We come for all the home games and will keep staying here every year. It’s an older hotel that’s had a few updates, close to campus and within walking distance of restaurants, stores, and other things. The bar stays open until 2 a.m.

I’ve stayed at both Best Western and Sure Stays as a regular member, and this is the first place I’ve found infested with roaches of every size and color. They were crawling across the walls, bathroom, floor, and furniture. We’d just gotten food, and within minutes of unwrapping it, roaches were in it. We checked out right away, around 8 p.m., after checking in at about 6. Nobody asked why, so we figured they knew. The next morning we called for checkout confirmation since they hadn’t checked us out the night before, but they recorded the wrong time anyway. We ended up at another Best Western that was impeccable. Stay at your own risk.
