Holiday Inn Lumberton by IHG

Lorraine was fantastic and went out of her way to help. Being right off the highway was a real convenience. The bed and bathroom were clean, but the rest of the room didn't meet that standard. The property feels dated and could use a refurbishing, especially the carpet, which had a slight odor.

The staff were friendly and the customer service was great, and the hotel itself is nice. There's a Denny's right in the building serving food 24 hours, plus lots of places to eat nearby. My room smelled as if there had been water damage at some point, and I couldn't get the smell to go away. I also couldn't get my key to work on the outside door, even after it was reset. The manager eventually had to come let me in. One tip at checkout: wait until you see that they've checked you out, rather than just giving your name and room number. There's a newer IHG about a two-minute drive away on the same street, so I might try that next time.

The staff were friendly, helpful, and quick, and after they moved me to another room, the rest of my stay was mostly uneventful. The first room felt damp, though, and the AC blew air without cooling it, even after I ran it for a couple of hours. The hotel is quite dated, and the TV took about eight seconds to change channels, so it wasn't worth watching. The location is a bit confusing too, since the signage isn't clear and I couldn't tell whether I was walking into Holiday Inn or Dennys.

We felt safe and well looked after, and the price was affordable. They gave us free coffee and fruit, plus a members' goody bag when we arrived. The hotel was lovely, with Dennys attached. Service at Dennys was a little slow, but it was a holiday weekend. We really enjoyed our stay and would come back if we're in the area again.
