We decided not to stay at the Super 8 in Luverne, MN and asked for a refund as soon as we saw the room. The pillows were visibly yellow, the sheets and blankets had multiple stains, dust covered the surfaces, and the room was poorly maintained. There was visible mold in the bathroom and bugs too, so it felt unsanitary. At the front desk, the manager on duty was rude, used inappropriate language, and wouldn’t help us respectfully. We were told her boss had to approve the refund. After following up multiple times, we still haven’t received confirmation or proof that it was processed, and we were denied a way to contact management directly. The cleanliness and customer service both made for a very negative experience. Based on what happened to us, I wouldn’t recommend this location.

My cat made friends with the front desk and housekeeping staff. They’re super cat friendly, low key, and down to earth. If you want Karen type staff, or you’re a Karen yourself, this isn’t the place for you. Keep driving another 3-6hrs and stop in Minneapolis, where you might get accommodations for daycare. But if you’re exhausted from driving and need a place to rest with a family of 8 plus pets, this is a homey oasis.

You get what you pay for. I’m from East St.Paul, and this place still scared me. I didn’t even sleep under the covers. I passed out on top of the bed in a hoodie, sweats, and socks. You can hear EVERYTHING, and breakfast was mid. The orange juice had black flecks in it, but I was thirsty. Didn’t die, but still weird.

Good prices, WiFi, and Smart TVs, plus great employees made for a great stay. The nearest big brand grocery stores like Walmart are a bit farther away, but the bigger Sioux Falls area in South Dakota is only a 30 minute drive.

The rooms are a little faded, but the staff were great and it was very quiet. There’s a surprisingly clean grassy patch to take your dog out. For a longer walk with your dog, or on your own, Luverne city park is nearby and lovely. I only had coffee in the morning, though the breakfast looked perfectly suitable.
