We came to visit Liberty University and wanted a cheap place. The price was good and it was really close to the school, but getting a usable room took a lot of tries. We arrived late and had to change rooms 3 times before finding one that was acceptable. The first room wouldn’t open because the door handle just spun. The second smelled like smoke, had an unknown brown substance in the toilet, a toilet that wouldn’t flush or fill, and a tub full of water. The third, in a different building, was much better, but the smoke alarm battery was low and beeping, and one bed’s sheets had been stripped but not replaced. I could have stayed in that room apart from those things. At that point the manager came over and said he’d check rooms before assigning another. The fourth room was great, with clean sheets and no smell. It was missing soap and the TV got no channels, but if that had been the first room we were given, I’d have been happy for the price. The staff apologized and worked with us to find a usable room. We enjoyed breakfast and were happy once we got into the fourth room. It’s an older hotel that needs repairs and maintenance: paint is flaking off the exterior and one 2nd floor walkway is crumbling. I wasn’t expecting anything fancy at that price, but clean sheets and a clean, functional bathroom are bare minimum. They need to know before guests arrive which rooms are habitable.

What a nightmare. Someone went through my things when I returned to my room the next day. When I confronted the front desk, they said they didn’t know if anyone was staying there. I lost my mind at that ignorance, packed up immediately, and moved to another hotel. The rooms were dirty and poorly maintained, and I had no Wi-Fi. I couldn’t sleep because the dog in the next room kept barking after 10pm. People sleep in their cars in the parking lot, someone tried to break into my car, and there are no cameras, so they couldn’t do anything about it. Check-in was a disaster too: the hotel somehow messed up our CLC reservation, so we all had to check in under one coworker’s name. The front desk agent took down my name, member ID, and phone number. Just tear this lot down and build a Dollar General or something.

I’ve traveled a lot, and this was the worst place I’ve stayed. We were here for a conference at Liberty, with the room booked by my church. The room was filthy: there were pubic hairs on the sheets, a hole in the bathroom, and we killed two roaches. Dust fell from the ceiling when the shower ran, and bits of caulk around the missing soap dish dropped into the tub. A piece of someone’s mail was stuck to a ceiling tile covering what looked like water damage or a hole. The soap dish had been torn off, and the curtains were ripped and clawed. I’m allergic to cats and could barely breathe in the room, which made me think one had been there before. We also saw someone pushing a Dollar General cart and assumed he was homeless, but he worked at the hotel and was using it to carry cleaning supplies, trash, and sheets. The staff were rude and unhelpful. We told them about all of this and got blank stares from a young man in headphones who barely listened. Absolutely disgusting. If I could give negative stars, I would. Please don’t stay here, for your health and well-being.

Rooms 215 and 216 were both nasty, and I wouldn't recommend staying here. In one, two baby roaches scattered around the sink and vanity when I turned on the light to brush my teeth. The room hadn't been cleaned or vacuumed, with a spill on the end tables, dirt and debris on the carpet, and a bottle cap on the floor. The carpet was coming away from the wall and was full of black mold. The toilet kept running after flushing, and the curtains looked like they had bodily fluid on them. In the other room, the curtains over the AC looked wet and moldy. During the reservation period, ownership changed three times, and reservations were changed or canceled.

The tub, carpet, and mirror all needed a proper cleaning. The mattress cover was stained, with a top sheet that was the wrong size thrown over it. I asked for an extra pillow and got one that was stained. They'd run out of pillowcases. The whole place was FILTHY!!!
