Tolley House

We had a really nice stay while we were in town for bonnaroo. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were all friendly. Communication was easy too, they usually replied almost right away. We’re planning to stay here again for our next roo!!

The bed was very comfortable, and the room was a nice size. Check-in and check-out were simple, and it’s close to Jack Daniel Distiller. It’s also a historical place to stay. The one drawback was the very loud hot water heater. I wish there were extra power outlets by the bed.

The house is old and nice, and the inside was very clean, but the patio table outside was dirty. This didn’t feel like the usual bed and breakfast. Nobody was there when we arrived, and we were locked out until we found cell service and called the owner for a door code. Breakfast was just assorted things left on the kitchen counter and in the fridge, like oats, energy bars, chips, a few muffins, juice, water, and soft drinks. It wasn’t fresh or homemade. Maybe other B&Bs work this way, but it was new to me. We had the first-floor Miss Ethyl room with a king bed. It was so high that I had to throw myself up onto it, and once there it was hard to move around. The pillows were very hard, so our sleep wasn’t comfortable or refreshing. There was only a bright overhead light, and we had to unscrew the bulbs to watch TV. A bedside lamp and a stool would have helped. The ottoman had a large round stain, the fireplace didn’t work, and there was no stereo. The place was almost eerily quiet. I’d suggest staying in Tullahoma, only 15 minutes from Lynchburg.

Tierra was easy to reach by call or text and very helpful while we were there. The rooms were clean and well kept. It’s a spacious B&B with enough rooms for a big family or several groups of travelers. There’s Wi-Fi, snacks, and plenty of history.
