Travelodge by Wyndham Lynchburg

The rooms were very clean, and the staff were great. The place seemed freshly painted, with updated floors and bathroom fixtures. Since they removed the carpet, the room smelled much nicer. Good value for the price, and there’s a party room for events.

We were assigned a smoking room even though the reservation said non-smoking, and I repeated that request to the front desk woman about three times. The blankets had stains that only showed once we pulled them down, and looked like they hadn’t been washed. The sink hadn’t been wiped, and there was trash in our bin. The whole hotel needs a serious renovation and a thorough cleaning. Even the lobby doors were covered in grime. Outside looked sketchy, with a dirty pool that hadn’t been drained, a grimy parking lot, and stained, tattered curtains in all the room windows. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The room had a tacky look and a strange smell, with some odd bugs around, though they weren’t bed bugs. The sheets and a few towels didn’t seem clean either. I try not to be fussy about places I stay, but management could do better. I’ll avoid Wyndham next time I travel.

There were three of us in a room with a king bed and a pull-out mattress for our child, but we didn’t start with enough towels. My husband had a business video call all morning, so we put the DND sign on the door. Later I went to ask for clean towels, and the manager argued that the sign meant we should have enough because there was only a king bed. I explained the call and that there were three of us. We went back and forth about four times before he reluctantly gave me just two towels, even though I needed three sets with washcloths. I left frustrated, and my husband didn’t get a shower because of the manager’s stubbornness. I’ve worked in hotels and know how this should go. I don’t understand denying a guest towels. The check-in process also put us through a lot of hoops. If we could have cancelled and gotten our money back, I’d have gone somewhere else. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
