Christina, Kenya, and Teresa are awesome. Very nice place, and the staff are nice too.
This place has serious problems throughout, from the building and rooms to how management treats people. Rooms leak from the ceiling, paint comes off it, floor tiles are lifting, and some of the A/C and heat don't work. Several families with children are living with black mold in their rooms and getting sick. Filters aren't cleaned properly, maintenance is repeatedly missing, and management blames tenants for maintenance that's the business's responsibility. They even want people to send pictures of a broken refrigerator instead of coming to check it themselves. I was also told the pool isn't operated, but they still haven't filled it in. A building out front that was supposed to be condemned has snakes in it, where children play. There are fallen trees, leaves, and trash around the property, and security is lacking. Roaches and venomous spiders are around the motel, and people have sex in the public laundry room. The washers and dryers barely work. One dryer smokes and sets off the smoke detector every time it runs, and they won't do anything about it. It's supposed to be a no-drug, no-gun facility, but people shoot real guns there, putting guests in danger. Families have been put out in harsh conditions too. One family was behind on rent but trying to pay through church or government assistance. The motel refused the payment and kicked them out in 20-degree weather, leaving them to sleep outside while their belongings remained in the room. Staff threatened arrest and unlawfully held their property while they moved it out. Their attitude changed only after police were called and forced them to unlock and open the door. Not all staff were rude. I also saw an elderly woman locked in her room because of a malfunction with motel property. They busted her out and told her to move rooms, though other residents felt she shouldn't have to move because of the lack of maintenance. They charge extra, including a $50 cleaning fee despite not coming in to clean rooms, and double late fees for two days' rent. Staff enter rooms when you're away without telling you, sometimes the day before. They take pictures of belongings inside rooms without consent. Management threatens people in retaliation for exercising their rights or leaving bad reviews, and always has an excuse about not having a maintenance person. They can't keep employees but blame the employees instead of owning their mistakes. After my son and I went to pay rent, it felt like a soap opera, with staff talking about other guests to other guests. Children run around at 3 a.m., and some are outside unsupervised. A man was found dead after being in his room for two days without anyone properly checking on him. I recommend taking pictures of everything and checking that it works if you do get a room. Bring your own toilet paper and soap, since they'll charge extra, and don't expect a complimentary mint. Don't let the bed bugs bite. I'd check nearby motels before booking Studio Lodge. Not all their properties are like this, but if I were one of the families who were put out, I'd seek legal advice.
The manager was unfriendly, always getting into your business and demanding access to your room, which I don't believe is legal without a valid reason. Drugs were everywhere. Most rooms don't have hot water, and a friend wasn't allowed to move to a room with a working shower. They said there was no maintenance man to fix it. This place needs a visit from Code Enforcement. It should be shut down.
Good rooms for the money, and a reasonable price. A great place to stay.
