Extended Stay America Suites Detroit Madison Heights

I appreciated having a kitchen in the room, and the front desk provided dishes and silverware when I asked. The grab-and-go breakfast was simple but satisfying, with good coffee, a muffin, and a breakfast bar. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the A/C kept the room cool. I stayed three weekend nights at the Extended Stay in Madison Heights. It’s an older hotel, but everything was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The hallways stayed quiet, and everyone on staff I met was polite, professional, and friendly. It’s easy to get around from the convenient interstate location, and parking was hassle-free. Great value, and I’d return.

The floors seemed like they had never been mopped, and the room didn’t have a proper security lock. It was dirty and filthy, with stains everywhere and bedbugs. We paid the full price in advance, so I guess we got what we paid for. They put us in the wrong room, then Merissa at the front desk argued that because it was a third-party account, they couldn’t do anything about changing it. It felt like paying for CK, getting a Dollar Tree brand, and being told, “Ha ha, we scammed you and you can’t do anything about it.”

I booked a reservation on 28th of December and 2025 and drove 12 hours with my family, arriving on January 6 of 2026. At the front desk, I was told, “Sorry, the manager canceled your reservation.” Nobody emailed or called me about it. Worst service ever at this hotel.

The accessible room was spacious, and the kitchenette was nice, though you have to request kitchen supplies because they aren’t in the room. When I used a towel to wipe up a little spilled water, it turned black. The floors and tiles need a good steam cleaning. I didn’t see the included breakfast another reviewer mentioned. There’s only one entrance from the street, and the hotel sign is small. It was okay value for one night.
