Hotel Ruby Marie

Timo and Ivan were especially friendly and professional, and really made the stay for me. I had a great time at Ruby Marie Hotel. The rooms are nicely designed, with a thoughtful feel, and the location is perfect for exploring Vienna.

We loved it here. The place was clean, the beds comfy, and it was affordable. Free parking was within a 10-minute walk of the square, and breakfast/brunch and two complimentary drinks were included. Our only snag was arriving shortly after 7:00 on Saturday night and not figuring out how to check in. If you’re confused, go to the Up North Pub to get your keys. Highly recommend!

The room was okay, but it smelled musty, possibly because the HVAC was leaking and the carpet was wet. We told the receptionist and asked to switch rooms, but were told none were free. That may have been true, though we saw no other guests during our two nights. The receptionist put down towels, which didn’t fix anything. The reception area didn’t smell good either, maybe from years above the bar downstairs. We skipped breakfast. The biggest problem was sleep. A train went by at 4:30 am and again at 5:00 am, so despite being conveniently located downtown in Madison, it was terrible for a good night’s rest. Free bar drinks, parking, and breakfast are clearly meant to make up for that, but those perks didn’t do it for us. Overall, I would NOT recommend.

We love architectural gems, and this is one. The rooms have the feel of the hotel’s 1800s past, while still having the modern conveniences we expect, like a mini fridge and en suite bathroom. The water pressure was good, and there was plenty of hot water, which matters to us. Our courtyard room was very quiet at night, except when the train went through town. Joshua and Amber were kind and helpful. Great location, free parking, and an easy walk to the Capitol and nearby restaurants. Give it a try!
