Super 8 Madison

If you don’t need a pool or hot tub, this is definitely the place to stay in Madison South Dakota. It was the quietest hotel, and I never heard a peep in my room or the hallways. I clean air bnbs for a living, so I know a clean hotel when I see one. The towels and washcloths were white, spotless, soft, and smelled amazingly clean. The staff were accommodating with room location, requests, and information. Breakfast was always great and complete, and the area was kept clean. The mattress, pillows, and bedding beat a 5 star luxury hotel. Best sleep I’ve had in a hotel! I can’t say enough good things about it. Top notch without paying an arm and a leg.

We didn’t stay. The room was so unacceptable and disgusting that we got straight back in the car and drove until we found somewhere clean to sleep. The bathroom was falling apart, with ceiling pieces actively coming down and a shower curtain rod rotting out of the wall. There was a dead bug under the soap on a washcloth, and a sloppy paint job with tape left on the wall and paint dripping. The sheets were ancient, with fibers coming apart, and a bug crawled out from under the remote when I moved it on the bedside table. We’d reserved a queen but got a full. The walls and carpets were filthy, the microwave was badly yellowed, and the whole place smelled terrible as soon as we walked in. The parking lot was completely empty of other guests’ cars. Now I know why. Easily the worst travel experience I’ve ever had. Avoid this place at all costs.

Praful at the front desk was so kind and helpful, he really knows hospitality. He’s amazing at his job, and the hotel was beautifully maintained. This was by far the best room I’ve had at any Super 8. Excellent, excellent, excellent!

I decided to stay at the Super8 motel instead of going by the older reviews, and had an absolutely awesome stay. The new management seems to be doing a great job. There’s no pool, but everything was well cared for. The room was clean and the environment quiet. Big improvement!
