Motel 6 Madisonville, TX

We slept comfortably and felt safe all night. The rooms were clean and well cared for, and the whole property looked nice. We travel with a well-trained dog who doesn’t shed, so it was great not to be charged a fee for him. This is a really good Motel 6.

There’s a big, lovely courtyard with a pavilion, grill, and picnic tables, and since everything is on one floor, you don’t have to haul bags up stairs. The rooms were clean enough, the price was great, and the staff was kind and accommodating. We arrived very late, so they gave us an extra hour to check out. I also loved that there was no pet fee for up to two pets. I have two medium-sized dogs, though the rules may differ for certain breeds or very large dogs. My main letdown was the bathtub, which had no stopper. I live in an RV, and I look forward to taking a long, hot bath when I stay at a hotel. The pool, which was a pretty oval shape next to the pavilion, has been filled in. I understand pools are a lot to maintain and it was still too cold to swim, but they’re a nice touch, especially at a relatively quiet hotel without many kids. As value motels go, this was one of the nicest I’ve stayed in.

I was out walking for exercise and really needed a restroom, so I asked at the lobby. The sales clerk said I couldn’t use it. I wish he’d let me.

Beth at reception was courteous and kind. My room was clean, the bed was firm, and the shower had hot water and good pressure. They also serve coffee at reception in the morning.
