The M Malibu

I loved the decor, and the room was clean and nice. I was on the third floor, so the ocean view was excellent. Nobu is right across the street, and I had a great lunch there. Parking was easy, too. They don’t have a desk staffed 24 hours, but the team responds to calls or texts. Best motel I’ve stayed in, highly recommend!

For a simple motel, The M Malibu does its job really well. A 5-star 2-star hotel, if you get what I mean. I've stayed before because a small place that's easy to get into and out of suits my work trips. Parking is super convenient, the room was clean and modern, and the shower was nice. I chose a room on the PCH side for the ocean view and little balcony. Yes, traffic made it noisy, but the owner warned me beforehand and I decided the view was worth the extra sound. It's a no-frills, no-nonsense spot on the PCH. There isn't much restaurant choice on foot, so bring a car or plan on Uber.

Great for an overnight staycation in the bu if noise doesn't bother you. The room is clean and comfortable, and you can walk to the pier, Nobu, the beach and the dispensary. What you see is what you get. The metal bed has noisy springs, the walls are very thin, and you hear both neighbours and the PCH at night. They do supply ear plugs, but I'd probably look elsewhere if I were sensitive to sound.

They charged me $671 even though nobody was there when I arrived for my reservation. I waited 4 hours and 47 minutes, ringing the number on the door and contacting hotels.com, who I'd booked through. They couldn't reach the hotel either. I ended up at the Malibu Country Inn and would tell anyone considering this place to go there instead. I still can't get hold of anyone to recover my money. Insane. This feels like a complete scam of a business.
