We held a pirate event here to raise money for cancer research, and had a wonderful time. The hosts were fantastic, the rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and breakfast was great. Staff were very helpful, and the price was quite reasonable. Can't wait to come back.

I can't understand the good reviews. You get what you pay for here, which is cheap. I booked four nights but left after just one. Every surface I wiped with a disinfecting wipe came up black, and the bathroom sink counter was just as dirty. I was already disgusted by the stains I found. The mattress had plastic sheeting on it and was very uncomfortable. The bathroom extractor fan couldn't be switched off, so I had to sleep with the door closed. That night, a coach full of young hockey players yelled, banged doors, and carried on so loudly that I had to leave the TV on to drown them out. The man at the front desk was nice and accommodating. In the morning, I raised the noise with the receptionist, who said they couldn't control it instead of offering to help. Ridiculous. I was told the manager only works Monday through Friday, so I had no way to get a refund. I've also reported the hotel to Advantage Hotels. Don't stay unless you absolutely can't afford another option or don't care about noise or cleanliness. Disgusting.

The housekeeper was kind and brought me fresh towels, even though the front desk had told me I could go find him and get them myself because they don't help with that. No one at reception greeted me or my guest when we came or went, and I ended up staying in the room most of the time. I had expected more understanding and hospitality from a hotel. I got bitten by bugs, and when the manager called afterward, she yelled at me for not reporting things in the order she preferred. She offered no solution. The call felt hostile and scary, and I wouldn't have felt comfortable speaking with her in person if she'd been on site, as she suggested. The elevator was dirty, so I decided not to enter the breakfast room, despite breakfast being included. I'm looking into how to seek a refund for the physical and mental strain this visit caused.

The included breakfast tasted fresh and homemade, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The rooms have been renovated and feel modern, and they were clean. It's a handy location for seeing the area or visiting a student at UConn, with a nice supermarket within walking distance. I had a good experience and will choose this hotel again when I'm visiting Hartford Ct.
