Baymont by Wyndham Marietta

The rooms were clean and nice, and the visit was relatively peaceful. But the bed setup was rough: the mattress was extremely hard, even for my husband, who usually likes a firm one. The pillows were so soft they had no structure, which didn't help. At breakfast, the woman there didn't greet us or offer help. She watched me try every juice dispenser for five minutes, then only told me the water was frozen after I asked what was wrong. The parking lot also wasn't really iced, so bring a vehicle that can handle thick ice. The outside doors have key card readers but don't lock, they just open. There were drafts around the heater, and the hairdryers were disgusting. Glad I brought my own. The rooms are definitely haunted.

I had no trouble booking, checking in, getting service, or finding the room clean. As a Platinum Wyndham Rewards member, I found this hotel a tremendous value and it did what I needed. The issue was the cold in the hallways and breakfast area. On the first morning I went back to my room for a hooded sweatshirt, then carried breakfast back because it was so cold. A couple of people were eating in winter coats and toboggans, and we joked it might snow inside. You could literally see your breath. If they get working heat in those areas during winter, this would be a five-star review for what this hotel is and is supposed to be.

The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and housekeeping checked whether we needed anything. We had a fridge, microwave, and coffee pot in the room, and the price was affordable. It's in a good area, easy to find, and not far from historic downtown Marietta. Breakfast included waffles, sausage and egg sandwiches, cereal, yogurt, bagels, muffins, coffee, tea, and juice. There's also a business center, outdoor swimming, and an exercise room.

We've visited Marietta on and off for over four years and always stayed at the Baymont, usually enjoying a chance to relax. This weekend went badly. The room was clean enough and we could relax, but after we left, my phone alerted me that the hotel had charged my card an extra $250.00. I called from home and was told housekeeping reported smelling marijuana smoke in the room. That was a lie. The person on the phone said she'd transfer the money back, but then my husband and I were put on a no-stay list. We smoke cigarettes, so we went outside by the pool, even though it was cold and raining. We never smoked in the room, and We Don't Smoke Weed! If you smoke, I'd suggest finding a smoker-friendly motel. Apparently, we're second-class citizens.
