Wingate by Wyndham Marietta Conference Center

I was stuck waiting out a level 3 and couldn't safely drive home, with businesses closed, but the staff were making coffee, which I appreciated. I tried staying here so I could get to work on time Sunday, and gave it another shot because of the level 3. The first night, the only small issue was that the TV had just one channel. On Sunday night, the first room's door jam wiggled and the door wouldn't close. The front desk promptly moved me, which I appreciated. In the second room, the smoke alarm chirped all night and had no battery. There wasn't a landline, and the desk didn't answer when I called from my cell, so I couldn't ask for another room or a battery without walking down in my pajamas. At 4 a.m. I gave up trying to sleep and went to shower. The water wasn't even lukewarm, and the drain wouldn't clear, so I quit. That room's TV also had only one channel. I've stayed at Wyndham hotels a lot while traveling. I know this is rated two stars, but to me that should mean perhaps a little outdated, not these problems. I'll pay more next time and hope for a better stay. I gave service two stars because room upkeep isn't the front desk workers' fault, though this place still doesn't deserve a high rating.

The room was clean, and if you just need a cheap bed for one night, it might do. But the hotel is a real dump, with water damage all over and a seriously old, scary elevator. It looks like it was due for a full overhaul 30 or 40 years ago. I wouldn't bring a partner or family here. It's gross.

I called because I may have left my heart medication in a room and was told someone would check with housekeeping and call me back. More than 24 hours passed with no call, and today nobody is answering the phone either. The front desk almost never picks up.

When we left, our car had been hit. The desk clerk said the people who hit it had been thrown out and asked us not to call the police. Someone apparently saw the damage happen but did nothing, and then wanted us to do nothing too. They still haven't offered us anything. We were also told by the woman at the desk that we didn't get the advertised free breakfast because employees who live at the hotel come down and take it all. They offered nothing for that, either. We won't stay here or at another Wingate again.
