Comfort Inn Kennesaw

I arrived at 1:00 a.m. after driving nearly 10 hours and asked the rate for that night plus one additional “Sunday.” I was comparing prices, then agreed to the rate I was quoted. Early the next morning they called before I'd had a full rest and said they'd made a mistake and needed me to pay again. The new amount was outside my budget, which was why I chose this location in the first place. They made no effort to apologize or offer a better rate. I was told I should know better because I'd stayed at one of their locations before. I said I felt duped: knowing it would cost double, I would have picked somewhere else, and I thought I'd booked two nights, not one. Their supposed corporate number said they'd document it, but I still had to leave. Oddly, the caller ID showed “Illinois department of corrections jail.” Be careful with your reservation here. If they make a mistake, you're still on the hook, and apparently you're at fault, especially if you've stayed before. Here, “Sunday” means Saturday and two nights means one, so watch your wording even when you get it right.

I won't stay at a Comfort Inn again. Choice Hotels has lost my business over the way they handled my husband's cancer and a policy that wasn't explained at check-in. This happened on October 9. We arrived at 3:30 a.m. after a bad experience at another hotel, with a reservation through the 10th. The front desk clerk confirmed our checkout was the 10th, gave us keys, and we finally thought we'd get some sleep. Around noon on the 9th, someone knocked to ask if we were checking out. I said our booking ran through the 10th. My husband has cancer and had just taken his medication, so he needed more sleep. When I went downstairs, Dee told me we'd have to pay for another night because spending a full night there counted as my reservation. I've stayed at many hotels and never heard that, since 3:30 a.m. is the next day as far as I know. I could understand an extra fee, but not a whole night. I asked why nobody told us at check-in and asked for the manager's number. Dee said she didn't have it and gave me an email instead. After an hour dealing with both the hotel and the booking company, I gave in and offered to pay for another night, but then they said I couldn't stay. Dee called management from behind the desk and told them I was making up the story about my husband's cancer. When I explained he couldn't drive us elsewhere because he was tired and had taken his medication, she said he'd had enough sleep since 3:30 a.m. Dee repeatedly said we couldn't stay and called the police to make sure we left. The person who checked us in had confirmed the 10th as our checkout. If he'd explained the extra-night rule, that would've been different. I called other properties and asked about this policy; they said they didn't have one like it. Be careful with the shady people at Comfort Inn kenesaw.

I'd call it a 3.5, it's okay. The rooms are decent but nothing special, parking is limited, and the staff had a little trouble understanding me. The continental breakfast was decent. My main concern was the elevator, which sounded bad, and its maintenance certificate had expired almost two years earlier.

Gene at the front desk was great, but the room was tiny, with peeling paint over the bed and in the bathroom, plus a rusty showerhead. It wasn't especially dirty, just not very clean. Breakfast couldn't have been worse.
