Sleep Inn and Suites - Ocala / Belleview

I checked out after just one night and paid a couple dollars more to stay at the Hamptons. On my earlier work trips to Ocala, this Sleep Inn had always been pleasant, but this visit was different. The rooms were filthy and smelled awful, which I suspect may be because pets are now allowed in any room. People were smoking and hanging around outside and in the lobby, and the smell of weed hit as soon as I entered. It got stronger in the elevator and hallways. Breakfast was still good, as it had been before, though the woman watching over the area stared so much I wanted to leave. The young man at the front desk was also unprofessional, carrying on a personal cellphone conversation and swearing where everyone could hear. This was Sleep Inn 13600 17th Court, Ocala Fl 34473.

We had a nice outdoor pool, and the staff were friendly. But there were roaches in our room. We told the staff, and they just wrote down the room number and thanked us. Gross. I don’t want to bring a critter home.

Later that night, around 12:30, people were running up and down the hall and screaming. After what had happened earlier, that made us even more frightened and showed us our concern hadn’t been dealt with. It was the second night of our stay, and we’d put the do not disturb sign on the door when, at 8:30 p.m., someone pounded loudly with fists. My daughter and I were terrified. She looked out the people and saw two males running down the hall. She went to the front desk after waiting a while to explain how scared we were. The woman there didn’t seem to take it seriously and said she’d check the cameras. My daughter came back to our room and we tried to calm down. If you’re an older woman traveling alone, I’d think twice about staying here. They didn’t take our security concerns seriously.

The rooms are disgusting, and the carpets are black with filth. Staff are rude, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. Trey, the young man at the front desk, is on the phone talking, laughing, or cussing. Completely unprofessional and inappropriate.
