Mary greeted us by name and made us feel at home. It’s a historic building in a historic town, and she had breakfast ready before our Yosemite hike. No way I could rate this anything less than five stars.

I didn’t stay at the Mariposa Hotel Inn, but I stopped to admire the building. Its architecture, stonework, and setting make it one of the standout buildings in Mariposa. It’s beautifully preserved, full of historic charm, and has a special presence even when you’re just passing by.

I booked based on the Google reviews, but the place fell far short of its rating. I’m not okay with paying an exorbitant amount for somewhere that may not have been renovated in 50, 60, maybe 70 years. Calling it “cozy,” “historic,” or “quaint” doesn’t fit for me. I wouldn’t even call it a hotel. It’s extremely dated and run-down, and everything in the room seemed at least 50 years old, which is no compliment. The bed sloped so my legs were higher than my head. The “blanket” was some kind of synthetic material that made me sweat whatever the temperature. People in the parking lot behind the building screamed, talked, and laughed all night. The bathroom was unappealing and in disrepair. I’d never stay there again. I’m writing this to spare someone like me a night of sleep. I know there aren’t many options around, but personally, even a tent would work better for me. P.S. To those who gave it five stars and called it amazing and historic, may every one of your travels bless you with accommodations like this.

Mary, the proprietress, was welcoming, sweet, and caring. Our room had lovely old-style stained glass lamps that gave it a cozy feel, and it was clean, comfortable, and pretty. My husband and I spent one night at the Mariposa Hotel Inn on the way to Yosemite National Park. It was a quaint place, and we’d be happy to stay again.

Mary is a truly nice person, and her restaurant recommendations were right twice out of two times, so I’d listen to her. The room was lovely, the bed super comfortable, and the place was quiet and convenient. I was won over as soon as I saw the giant stained glass unicorn window. Having breakfast on the balcony was lovely, too. Everything about our two-night stay was awesome, and it cost dramatically less than many places around there.
