Best Western Plus Marquette Hotel & Suites

The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable, and it might be a nice place in summer. But I've stayed here more than once and never seen salt put down. The whole parking lot was a sheet of ice, and yesterday I fell hard. I wouldn't bring your grandma here in winter. They don't seem to care who falls, and someone's going to sue one of these times. Best Western, do better.

We got the only room available, an accessible one, and its extra-large bathroom was a nice bonus. Breakfast had plenty of choices, and we caught a stunning sunrise through the huge dining-area window. All the front desk agents were welcoming. The night-shift woman who checked us in was especially excellent. Really nice hotel.

It's in a handy spot just off M41, a short drive from downtown, and there's a nice indoor pool. The hotel was spotless and our room was comfortable. The breakfast choices were very good, and the staff there kept the area clean and everything stocked the whole time, the best we've seen. The desk staff were friendly and helpful too. It seems like a fairly new Best Western. Only minor annoyances: the tub and shower were slippery, and the bedside reading-light switch was placed so you had to get out of bed to turn it off.

We liked the first two nights. Our suite had a bathtub, which is handy with kids, and the kids enjoyed breakfast. The dog-friendly policy was useful, though there's hardly any grassy space for dogs unless you balance on a big hill. The bathroom's sliding barn-style door was odd too, since it didn't lock. We had to return for a third night when a family member was admitted to the hospital. That room cost more even though it wasn't a suite and had neither a sleeper sofa nor a bathtub. After a long day at the hospital, I found the large shampoo bottle completely empty. I didn't have the energy to ask for a refill of something we hadn't even used. There were grown men drinking and getting rowdy by the pool. The next day, when my kids went swimming, towels were sunk at the bottom and there was a trail of food nearby. The men were swearing constantly and didn't tone it down around families. It was decent enough, but I don't think we'd stay again.
