Quality Inn Marquette

My girlfriend and I have stayed here twice, about 10 days in total, and most of it has been great. The rooms are very clean, the pool and hot tub have been clean and at a good temperature, and the desk staff have been friendly. One of the desk women, a little older with dirty blond hair, answered all our questions and helped with what we needed. I can’t remember her name, but she was great. One elderly woman who sets up and cleans the breakfast area was off-putting and a little rude both times I saw her. She blocked the walkway while breaking down boxes, then stopped me from getting breakfast in my socks, saying I needed shoes, though there were no signs and families were walking barefoot between the pool and breakfast area. I was also uncomfortable with how she handled the food. She wore no gloves while setting out breakfast food, plates, silverware, and cups after opening supplies, breaking boxes, wiping her hands on her pants, adjusting her glasses, going to the back room, touching her face and clothes and other surfaces, and even picking trash off the floor. I didn’t see her wash her hands or put on gloves. She also put bread, bagels, and muffins out and stood in the way of people. I’ll likely stay again, but I’ll be more careful about who’s serving breakfast and avoid the no-glove, no-shoe lady to avoid a confrontation.

After hiking, we were glad to have the pool and hot tub, and Hudson's restaurant out front was great. Our room was clean and quite large, and breakfast had plenty of options. The staff helped us out with a minor maintenance issue during our stay.

The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is that the internet has been down for the past two weeks.

When I arrived for my two-night online booking with a pet, there was blood on the sheets. I was handed a clean set and told to change them myself. I was charged $445 and change for the stay, plus a $56 pet fee that I was told at check-in would be refundable. The pet fee was returned, then charged again, and the following Monday another $118 appeared on my card. I’ve called the motel and corporate offices, but nobody gives me the same explanation, and I’m still trying to get my money back. Their policy is to return funds to the original payment method, so I can’t change the card until this is resolved. For the past week, Quality Inn of Marquette MI has kept taking money from my bank account however they please. I wouldn’t recommend anyone stay here. They’re thieves!
