Marshall House Inn

We booked the whole inn for our wedding party for an October wedding, and everyone had such a wonderful stay that our group, who mostly started out as strangers, was talking about returning every year for a weeklong reunion and vacation. The inn is beautiful, the rooms are lovely, and the porch was incredible. The kitchen worked perfectly and the location is to die for. Thanks for the now-depleted coffee supply and all the thoughtful touches that made it comfortable. We appreciated the care taken to preserve the building’s character and can’t wait to come back.

Our host made sure we were comfortable and told us about the home’s history. We loved our time at The Marshall House Inn and hope to return soon. The room had lovely furnishings, a great shower and bed, and a magnificent view of the river, town, and mountain. We walked downtown for dinner and window shopping, then woke to early morning scenery and a wonderful breakfast. It was a relaxing, pleasant getaway close to home. Micah the resident puppy dog was sweet too!

We’ve stayed at the Marshall House Inn three times in four years, and it’s a charming place to relax and enjoy downtown Marshall, not too far from home or Asheville. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated, and you can see how much care John and Kerstin put into the property. I’m glad they made it through the pandemic and adjusted breakfast to serve guests safely and pleasantly. Stay here, you’ll love it as much as we do.

My favorite spot was the huge covered front porch, with comfy furniture for reading and lounging. The common room also had self-serve snacks and drinks available anytime, along with homemade granola and local coffee. Room 3 was spacious, with lovely views of downtown Marshall and the French Broad River. The historic home pairs classic character with stylish contemporary decor, and our large bed was very comfortable. Shops and restaurants are just a quick walk away. We’d love to return!
