Hampton Inn Matamoras/Milford

The bed was comfy, the pool was lovely, and breakfast was free. My honey and I spent our anniversary here and had such a wonderful time! The front desk felt so welcoming with all the decorations, and everyone was really nice. The woman at the desk with the gorgeous curly hair went above and beyond. Loved her! There was also a huge walk-in shower.

I come back twice a year to visit family, and this is a good pick for a shorter stay. Breakfast meets my standards for Hamptons, and there’s plenty of seating when the hotel has fewer guests. A strip mall and a few restaurants are right nearby, with Perkins less than a five-minute walk away. There’s an odor when you enter the lobby, and the hotel tends to be cold. The pool temperature is okay, though still a little cold. In my room, the TV volume wouldn’t go below 13, and the mini fridge got noisy and annoying at night. The road to the hotel is narrow and full of potholes. I don’t blame the hotel for that, since from what I’ve heard it has to do with a property dispute involving the carwash and Farm Plus. As I remember it, there’s another entrance near the Best Western.

The room was spacious and clean, but I’d have chosen somewhere else if I’d known this wouldn’t feel like the usual Hilton accommodations. There’s a higher security hold, no smart TV or marketplace for snacks, and the vending machines take cash only. As a Hilton Honors Member, I didn’t get any thanks at all. If you expect typical lodging under the Hilton brand umbrella, keep looking. This isn’t what you’re used to.

Alyssa was at the front desk again when I checked in, the second time I’ve found her there. She’s so personable and helpful, and makes a point of engaging with each guest. She goes out of her way to make people feel valued and does more than her position requires. She’s a real asset to this Hampton Inn.
