Motel 6 McAlester, OK - South

The location was the only thing I liked. The lobby looked old, run down, and not very clean. At check-in, the clerk gave us a key to a room that was occupied. We heard a dog barking while trying the door, then a man opened it and we apologized. Thankfully, the key didn't work. The desk said they thought the room was vacant. In the replacement room, there was no shampoo or hair dryer, and the heater vents had mold. I've never stayed somewhere more unpleasant. Motel 6 need not leave the light on for me!

The bathroom was filthy, with pee and some kind of residue on the toilet seat, and a dirty shower area. The bedside light on the left didn't work, and someone had stuffed toilet paper into the peepholes. For $60 a night, a clean bathroom seemed like the least we could expect. The lobby smelled of cigarettes when we walked in, and the employees looked disheveled and unprofessional. When we checked out, a man was vacuuming there with an extremely dirty vacuum, while that same old cigarette smell and another foul odor hung around. This was the worst Motel 6 I've been to. Please don't stay here.

The room was very clean, and the staff were exceptionally nice and helpful. That included the people at the counter as well as cleaning and maintenance. Most shops and places to eat are a reasonable distance away.

We saw the room and left right away. There was rat droppings in the bed, pubic hair all over the bathroom, and food left on the TV stand. The urine smell was so strong they had tried dryer sheets to cover it, but that didn't help. The place was beyond nasty, and I won't stay here again. At the desk, the woman had been asleep in the back where we could see her. We banged and yelled, then called twice before she finally got up. She seemed so incoherent we couldn't understand the room number she gave us. It seemed as if drugs were involved. 10/10 recommend staying somewhere else!
