Holiday Inn Express & Suites McAllen - Medical Center Area by IHG

The staff are friendly, the rooms were clean, and it’s close to the main stores. Breakfast is a nice extra. Great place.

We came for a business trip with the kids, and they’re already asking to come back. The food was delicious and everyone on staff made us feel welcome. Erik, the GM, was helpful and professional, and Maria the chef is amazing. We loved our stay.

The room was the standard setup, and everything worked, from the lights and switches to the AC. I like these beds, though I can sleep on concrete. My rate was $161 before tax, or 18,000 points and $25. I’d recommend this place. At check-in, the front desk woman was polite, recognized my status, thanked me, and offered water. They clearly train the staff well on that procedure. I also saw the maintenance man carefully explain to the front desk employee that batteries in a guest room door were dying. He seemed to really care about his work.

The room coffee maker was the one drawback. I was on the first floor near the breakfast area, so it was manageable, but it could’ve been annoying otherwise. Parking was free, the area felt fairly safe, and there are a couple of restaurants you can walk to. We tried Poncho’s, a Mexican place, and it was delicious. I’m on the road for work about 10 days a month and enjoyed this stay. I’d spent two days earlier in the week at the Hilton Garden Inn next door, then moved here when availability changed. This hotel felt much nicer and more modern, and breakfast was included. IHG hasn’t usually been one of my top hotel choices, but this stay made me reconsider.
