The rooftop was worth the trip up for the views, and the service was excellent. Mrs. Ima made us feel welcome and gave us good food recommendations. We also liked having a Starbucks connected to the hotel and free breakfast the next morning. The room layout felt a little unusual, probably because it's a historic building, but we had a great stay and would come back.

The building is quaint and nicely decorated, and the room was well equipped, as you'd expect from a standard RI by Marriott. Bringing our large dog was no problem with the reservation, though the pet fee was $125. The issue is there's nowhere for a dog to go outside, no pet walk or green space. A hotel advertised as pet friendly should offer at least a small place for that.

I stayed for three months and had a very good experience. Housekeeping came every two days, and the service was okay. Since we were leaving early, they arranged breakfast for us ahead of the usual time. I'd definitely recommend the hotel for either a short or longer stay.

The rooms lose heat fast because the insulation is so poor, and the front entrance stays locked all day. Without a key, you have to wait for someone to let you in. The manager was rude and didn't seem to know the late checkout policy for Titanium elite members. My understanding is that they are guaranteed checkout at 4 pm, and I included a screenshot of the policy posted online. Marriott needs to explain the rules better. Nobody could show me a written policy saying late checkout is only up to the hotel's discretion. This was horrible customer service.

The rooftop view was a nice surprise, and the staff made the stay feel warm from the start. Everyone I dealt with was friendly and kind, and it all felt genuine. Residence Inn downtown Memphis was more enjoyable than I expected, with a comfortable stay and welcoming service right in the heart of the city.
