Quality Inn & Suites Menomonie

**** I gave the hotel another shot. The room was clean, though the dryer wasn’t drying. After four tries, they offered to move the laundry to the large commercial dryer. It was a decent stay overall, but breakfast still needs work. **** The first time, I was quoted one amount by phone, then $40 more when I went in to pay. The shower water stayed cool while the sink water was hotter. Someone said they’d come check it, but nobody did. The room was dusty, the lampshade was cut, and the paint on the walls and ceiling didn’t match. The advertised exercise room wasn’t there, and breakfast wasn’t very good.

The room I booked was advertised online as a jacuzzi suite, which was what I wanted for a birthday and anniversary trip. The front desk clerk said the pool and hot tub were open until 9:30, but the room was pitch black. If I’d known, I would have stayed somewhere else. There was mold where the windows used to slide, too. The parking lot was covered in about four inches of ice and felt like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Stay somewhere else. We accidentally booked two rooms through booking.com, then the manager repeatedly misled us and tried to cancel them through the site. Unsure whether the cancellation had gone through, we went to the hotel that day to check. He said there was no booking under my name, so we thought it was settled. Instead, we were charged for two rooms for two nights. The debit to QI appeared on my bank statement. When I called, the manager said we were no-shows and wouldn’t get a refund. My bank’s fraud department, with booking.com’s help, recovered one night’s $251.98, leaving us out another $251.98. The manager was belligerent when we tried to sort it out, and hung up on my final call as soon as he recognized me. Quality Inn Corporate was no help with the dispute, maybe because there are so many.

The room cost only $75, so I wasn’t expecting much, but the TV should at least have had a few channels. It would only turn on with the button on the side, then showed “no input.” The refrigerator didn’t work either and smelled awful when opened.
