Ralph made me feel at ease as soon as we started talking at check-in. I was uneasy about the area and parts of the complex, but he knew what to say. We chatted about my drive from Abilene Texas to Peterstown WV, where I live, and my Christmas visit with my daughter, her husband and their kids. We talked about welcoming our fourth and final grandchild, a girl, and about health, staying positive and thanking God for waking us up. I loved that Ralph was Christian and open about it. My worries faded, and I felt I was where I needed to be. He also moved me to a ground-floor room because I have a fractured back and Multiple Sclerosis. I really appreciated that. The room was spacious and easy to move around in with a wheelchair, walker or arm canes. It was accessible throughout, even the mini fridge and microwave, though it wasn't one of the ADA units. It was clean, and I could faintly smell bleach. There were a few scrapes and small holes in the walls, but that seemed like normal wear and didn't spoil the room. The bed was firm and the pillows felt like clouds. Checkout was quick and easy. I can't remember the desk clerk's name, but he deserves a shoutout too. A few minutes after I checked out, he called to say Johnny from housekeeping had found a blanket I left behind. It means a lot to me, so I couldn't believe I'd forgotten it. When I returned, Johnny was there with it, smiling and being so polite. I've never seen such a big smile on a man who cleans all day. It felt genuine and sweet. Ralph and Johnny are what made this a five-star stay for me. I had planned to give it four stars, but the checkout morning changed that. I'll stay here again on my trips to Abilene. Thanks to both of you for making the whole stay a good one.

The room isn't huge, but the furniture fits without making it feel cluttered. It has the usual wear, including peeling paint, though the room and sheets smelled and looked clean. The TV is large with clear reception, and the four pillows are soft, if a little small. The AC was quiet and cold, a nice bonus. There's also an almost full-length mirror, which you don't often see in the usual RRIs. There aren't many electrical outlets, so bring an extension cord.

The staff we met were all really nice, and the room was clean and quiet for a highway stop. We only needed a quick night, and the beds were comfortable. There are two dog-walking spots, both stocked with bags and disposable cans.

The housekeeping staff is excellent, and they will clean the rooms if you ask. For the price, though, it feels like you don't have much choice. The owner is a horrible person. Trust me, don't make this place your long-term stay.

I wish I could post the photos, but I've sent them to corporate. This was the worst hotel I've stayed in. Our first room was way at the back, felt unsafe, and was filthy. The sheets were dirty and stained, and the TV didn't work. They moved us closer to the front, but that room was worse. The door wouldn't close unless we slammed it, and the security latch was missing. The sheets were a little better but still stained, and the top bedspread looked like it had blood on it. The refrigerator was dirty, with what looked like a spill down the side and something nasty in the freezer. There was mildew all around the tub and toilet. If you have a choice, do not stay here.
