Miles Motel

The kind staff and the fact that Mercy Care uses this place were the best parts of my two week stay. One woman was especially helpful. It’s on a bus route, and the library and Fry’s are about an hour’s walk away. There’s also a laundromat nearby. I kept a fan running, so outside noise wasn’t much of an issue for me, but without one you can hear what’s going on outside. The room needs a major refresh and a proper cleaning. I found roaches in the kitchen, bed bugs, and dead roaches in both parts of the refrigerator. The bed was very old, the toilet often needed a second flush, and the shower and toilet had weak pressure. Both the sink and shower took a long time to heat up. The stove worked once I figured out that its numbers were reversed, but the oven didn’t work and the burner lights didn’t show when some burners were on. The fridge itself was fine. Internet access was awful, so thank goodness the library stayed open until 8 pm. I’m glad Mercy Care has a place willing to take people who need a room, but I wouldn’t pay to stay here myself. There are cheaper, better options, and the motel badly needs a facelift. Take pride in the place instead of letting it look like trash just to make a few extra dollars.

We were relocating to Oklahoma and were exhausted from the drive, but after that first night I’d rather have slept in the truck. The room was filthy, and the towels were being used as floor mats. The bed was broken, and I wouldn’t risk using the kitchenette stove or oven with roaches around. There were so many cockroaches. Dogs were allowed without a fee, which was the one upside. The front desk service was good, and the rate was decent, but this is absolutely a one star roach motel. Avoid it.

The staff were nice, but I found nasty bugs in every room, including bed bugs. There were also drug users on every corner. I’m very clean and careful, and that didn’t make a difference.
