We stayed for six months and had a great time. The family running the place is really nice and mostly helpful.

There are cockroaches here. The rooms are gross and the service is horrible. There’s a Quality Inn three minutes down the road that costs less per day. Don’t stay here.

I was looking forward to spending a week off the streets at The Sunland Motel, but the stay went badly. On the first day, someone complained to the front office that I was too loud, and the police came. The church had prepaid for the week, and the officers persuaded the manager to give me a warning and let me stay, with the warning that I could be arrested if I disturbed the peace again. After that, the nights were peaceful and there were no more noise problems. The next day, the manager moved me to a smaller downstairs corner room with fewer neighbors, which I was okay with. Then I was told visitors weren’t allowed after 7 p.m., even though a friend had stayed over the night before without any issue and left very early for work. On day six, the owner, manager, and housekeeper knocked because they assumed I had more than 10 people in the room. I had just one other person with me. They said visitors had been there for over four hours, so I guess that wasn’t allowed either. Although the room was paid through Saturday, they made me leave Thursday morning. The refund for the two remaining days was going to the church, not me, which was fine. I felt embarrassed and badly treated, and they treated my visitor badly too. I was homeless and had been excited to get off the streets, so this was upsetting. I spilled milk on the sheet one night and couldn’t get a replacement until morning. I also waited two days for the extra pillows I’d asked for, and staff rolled their eyes when I requested more towels. Wi-Fi cost extra each day. They overprice things, and I’ll never return, nor will my friends or family. This hotel should be closed, and maybe something illegal is going on, who knows. Three older hispanic men ganging up on a young female American adult didn’t look good. Absolutely horrible.

Mary and her husband are really nice, and the place was clean and freshly remodeled. The laundry facilities were very clean, and getting outside was easy. I had a good stay. The one downside is they’re on you about paying rent at checkout time, lol. I’m checking out today, thanks.
