I love my room, and the staff are professional and courteous.

There’s a lot of crime in this area, and it’s shocking that they have no cameras, especially with police watching the back rooms. People wander around outside at night up to no good, and people from the streets sneak into rooms. There’s constant noise from people blasting music, and criminals coming and going. Homeless people are everywhere. Shame on them.

This isn’t a hotel. The place leases 85 rooms to the Off the Streets program, and the rooms are run-down and dirty.

We were so exhausted from the heat that we stayed, but if we’d had the strength, we would have gone to another hotel just three miles away. It had a pool and breakfast and cost a third of what this place charged us. We couldn’t get into the lobby, even though we could see people sitting inside. The photos made it look okay, with a pool, complimentary breakfast, and a kitchenette. Only the kitchenette was there. Check-in led to a hot, stuffy room no bigger than a small walk-in closet. After five hours in 113-degree heat, all we wanted was to cool down. We both use power wheelchairs and thought we’d booked an accessible room. The front door wasn’t wide enough, and we had no ramp. There was a sliding back door, but that needed a ramp too. My brother-in-law broke our TV tray, and somehow we got into the room. We should have left right then, but my wife was throwing up. We just needed to cool off and thought we’d leave the next day, but she got worse. For the first two nights she slept half on the bed and half on her wheelchair. I think she had heat stroke, but she didn’t want to go to the ER because she would have had to take the bus and be out in the heat again. There were small black beetles all over. I don’t know what they might do to our things on the floor, but we couldn’t leave our dog’s food or water dishes down.
