There are two swimming pools, plenty of parking, and security cameras all around. The area felt very safe, and the staff were always courteous, cheerful, and helpful. The full kitchen, nice living room, and good bedroom make it a practical place to stay for a night, a week, or longer. The bathrooms were always clean, and the maid service was always bad to make sure the room was freshly clean for the next day, so it was nice to return from business or recreation and relax in a fresh room again. The price is very proud to go. I recommend this hotel for everyone.
This place was near the bottom of the hotels I’ve stayed at in a lifetime of traveling. The floors were filthy, and I had to wear shoes constantly or my feet turned black. The room smelled like sewer gas or a failed toilet seal, so I bought a plug-in air freshener to make it bearable. My key cards stopped working after 12 hours and had to be replaced over and over. The TV guide often wouldn’t work. They charge for dishes if you ask for them, and the microwave was so low under the cabinet that I had to get down on my hands and knees to use it. A dog in one room barked at 5:30 a.m. every morning for over 30 minutes, and staff did nothing. Two staff members were incredibly rude, with a teenager’s attitude, as if they had better things to do than talk to guests. The shower was either tepid or so scalding hot it could burn you, with no warm middle ground. I found pubic hairs on the shower head and a very long hair of unknown origin stuck to my face and beard from one of the “clean” towels. We had to bring dirty linens to the counter and put them in a big red toy bucket, and take our own garbage out. Zero out of ten, do not recommend. I’d rather have slept in my car and showered in a public fountain. I’ve stayed in lots of hotels, and this may be second from the bottom of my list. Go somewhere else, even if you need a last-minute room. It’s not worth staying for $5.00 a night.
The rooms are cheap if you just need a quick overnight stop, but for a week-long business trip, go somewhere else. The hallways and stairs smelled like stale pee, like someone had relieved themselves and it was never cleaned. My sheets were dirty, with sand and hair in the bed. I booked three rooms for other people too, and they all complained about low water pressure and water that only got lukewarm, never hot.
We arrived around 9 p.m. and nobody was at the front desk. When the woman finally showed up, check-in was unpleasant, with no communication and a very uncomfortable attitude. One of us broke out in a rash as soon as we sat on the bed, with red bumps or bites all over the leg. I showed the front desk employee a photo, but she was rude and dismissive. When I asked if we could cancel, she yelled at me to be quiet. She eventually moved us to another room. It was just as dirty, smelly, and uncomfortable, though at least we didn’t get more bites that night. Bed bugs, maybe? Hallways, room, elevator, reception area, bathroom, sheets, even the outside were filthy. This was way overpriced for the condition and service. I’d had a bad experience with this hotel chain in San Antonio before, but tried this location because it didn’t look too bad, allowed pets, and was far enough from noisy downtown New Orleans. Big mistake. I’m very disappointed with Extended Stay America once again. Never again.
We needed somewhere to stay while moving, until our apartment was ready, and ended up here for 14 days. My room was never cleaned during that time. When I asked for help with the problems in the room, the front desk guy spoke to my son in a way that could have turned into a real problem, so I told him to hang up. Most of the staff came across as unprofessional. Ms Rena on the day shift was the exception, always sweet and welcoming. The location is good, but the room was definitely a -4. I would NEVER stay here again. Advertising regular stays doesn't excuse letting room upkeep slide.
