Homewood Suites by Hilton Metairie New Orleans

We loved the area, felt safe, and found the hotel clean, family friendly, quiet, and easy for parking. My daughter was in town for her 23rd birthday, and she and her friends wanted to be closer to the NOLA French quarter scene. Another mom and I preferred a little distance, so this location was just right. The updated, welcoming hotel was friendly everywhere we went, and we enjoyed most of our three-night stay. Our spacious two-queen room had blackout curtains that really blocked the light. A few things could be better. There were two of us, but just three sets of towels, and with housekeeping every other day, four would have made more sense. The kitchen was nice, though the fridge rattled loudly when it kicked on. Something along the carpet edge by the bathroom may need attention, since it stuck both of us in the foot as we walked through. Breakfast had a nice variety each morning, but we had to ask for a couple of items to be refilled. The ladies were accommodating. We nearly missed Monday breakfast, forgetting that weekday hours are 6-9. Quite a few people came in just after 9, when everything had already been put away. We’d recommend the hotel and stay again.

Outback Steakhouse and a few other restaurants are close enough to walk to, and the location is convenient once you get used to all the U-turns after leaving I-10 via Causeway Boulevard. The breakfast area is roomy and opens into a larger lobby sitting area. The hotel was so clean and updated that we thought it was new until the front desk rep told us it dates to 2016 and had recently been renovated. Really nice place, highly recommend.

The staff at the front desk were welcoming and very helpful, and I got a lot for the price. The hotel is in a quiet, walkable, safe-feeling neighborhood outside the city, with a grocery store directly across the street and organic choices, a mall nearby, and parking that was easy. The building felt sturdy and made with quality materials compared with some newer places. Everything was clean and well maintained, from the rooms and common areas to the laundry equipment. The bed seemed brand new and I slept well. The room layout was comfortable, the large TV swivelled 180 degrees, and the kitchen had basic pans, dishes, and tools in acceptable condition. I cooked a NY Strip steak, steamed broccoli, and a sweet potato without any trouble. The hotel gym was unusually good for a hotel, and the coffee was excellent. I couldn’t have asked for more for what I paid.

The rooms are nicely appointed, with a small but efficient kitchen, and the bed is comfortable. Breakfast is included, though the scrambled eggs are usually cold. Staff are friendly.
