I only stayed one night and got the room at a good discount, so I wasn’t too upset. Repairs were underway on the bathroom sink, leaving me with only shower water, and even with the dial turned all the way to hot it barely warmed up. Good thing I keep bottled water in my car. The TV remote could change channels but not adjust the volume, and its power button didn’t work.

I left quickly and couldn’t get the first room’s condition out of my head. The staff were courteous and understanding, and offered me another upstairs room just behind the first, but I couldn’t bring myself to stay. The floor in that room felt like it could collapse, and the linens looked dusty, though I thought that might just be age. The walkway leading to the rooms felt like it could give way any second too. Thankfully, I got a refund. The first room wasn’t made, there was dirt all over the floor, and a headboard sat in the middle with cigarette butts scattered across it. It smelled awful, and one wall looked like someone had smeared feces on it. I started gagging and ran outside to the nearest place. I strongly believe the room was missed by accident during cleaning. I wish I were joking or just angry with the staff, but I’m not. It’s a cheap motel, and I know you get what you pay for, but I’ve stayed in cheaper places that were cleaner and in better shape. I don’t recommend staying here. The place needs a serious renovation inside and out, and whoever is responsible needs to stop people from wrecking the rooms. Taking only credit or debit cards, or requiring a $100 deposit or more up front for long-term users, might help. Otherwise, I worry cheap motels around here will all close. This wasn’t the only bad one nearby, but it was one of the worst I’ve come across.

Just terrible. The place looked really trashy overall, and smelled like dogs, cigarettes, and weed. There was hair and nails around, the beds were dirty, and the refrigerator was filthy and broken. If I could give zero or negative stars, I would, but one is the lowest. Terrible, terrible, terrible.

For $250 a week, my mother and I couldn’t have found a better place, even though you get what you pay for. The first room was dumpy, scary, and depressing, so I asked for one in better condition. They moved us, and it looked better, though I imagine plenty of people would still call it dumpy. We’ve stayed in much worse places at about the same price. The bed was comfortable, the TV worked well, and it had satellite, HBO, and other movie channels, if I remember right. They told us they spray for bugs twice a month. I saw just one roach during our week, and it was dead, a large Palmetto or American roach. The WiFi was painfully slow, unreliable, and cut in and out. It seemed better near the office, depending on where you stayed. The shower was the worst part: the water kept switching from hot to cold and back. It worked okay if nobody else was using water, so early morning was usually best for a shower, before people got up or after most had gone to bed. The location wasn’t great for errands. There’s a Waffle House next door and a gas station across the street, but no grocery store within walking distance. The E2 (Airline) bus stop is close and goes downtown, but only Monday through Friday. On weekends, you have to take two buses. Our stay wasn’t all that bad, given what we paid.

The rooms were better than I expected for a cheaper place, with a TV, microwave, mini fridge, AC, and space heater. The property was fenced, so it felt more or less secure. I’d been there a few days with no problems. The manager and front desk clerk were really nice and seemed committed to customer service. Upgrades were underway. The location was handy: a convenience store next door, Shell, Chevron, and a Mom n Pop grocery store across the street, plus a Rouse's grocery store down the road. The French Quarter was minutes away. It’s true that they charge $1 for extra toilet paper, soap, and similar items. I’m not sure if the other review was old, but that wasn’t my experience as of Jan. 2015. I rented a room without any trouble. Good service and low rates. Yes, I’d recommend it if you want an affordable room. It felt worth the money compared with higher-end hotels that aren’t much better.
