Wyndham Garden New Orleans Airport

After we called to check availability from a nearby restaurant, the person confirmed it was the local front desk and said they matched any website price if we came in. Once we arrived, we were told they’d only match what they could find, and only for a two-night stay. I had trouble getting cell signal, so I booked at a slightly higher rate than planned. The lobby was clean, modern, and neat, but only one of the three elevators worked some of the time. Another guest said one had been broken for months and his children had gotten stuck in the other several times. The room we first got had soaking wet carpet, a stain on one bed, mold on the other, and a door that didn’t open or close properly, so we called the desk and moved rooms. The second room had no microwave, which didn’t bother us, but its carpet tiles weren’t fully attached and the carpets were extremely dirty. I wore socks to keep my feet from turning black and changed them often. For four people, we got only three towels the first night. We put the housekeeping sign up and stacked the garbage neatly, but no one came to clean the room. My daughter and I liked the pool itself. The jacuzzi was boarded up and looked sloppy. There were no towels by the pool, so we had to go upstairs dripping wet to get some. When I called the desk, they said the towels were in the dryer. On day two, the only working elevator failed twice while we were trying to go up. At checkout, we hoped to swim before loading the cars because the sign said the pool opened at 9 AM, but apparently it now opened at 10. The elevator stopped twice while we were bringing our things down, and my daughter was stuck in it for several minutes on our floor. Apart from the woman who answered the phone and lied, the staff were decent, if a little condescending. Nothing else to speak of.

We stayed from July 26 to July 29. The check-in staff were pleasant and helpful, especially one gentleman at the desk. Our first room had no working AC, so they moved us. The AC worked in the second room, but its bathtub was dirty. I told assistant manager Melissa the next morning, and she said she’d make sure it was cleaned. When we came back that afternoon, the beds had been made and we had clean towels, but the tub was still dirty. My wife called Melissa again. She said the room hadn’t been serviced, even though it clearly had been. After my wife explained, she sent housekeeping to clean the tub. I complained through the Wyndham website and got a canned reply from customer service. I think it would’ve been more appropriate for the hotel’s general manager to call or email. We won’t stay here again.

The pool was clean and well kept, the restaurant and kitchen staff were very kind, and breakfast was pretty good. Inside, the hotel itself looked clean and appealing. But the front desk clerks were rude and acted like speaking to guests was a burden. One argued with me over my reservation details and treated me as if I were an idiot. She eventually agreed to the terms I’d been trying to sort out, but acted as though someone had forced her to do the right thing. After we went out for the evening, we came back to a note on the floor saying there’d be no hot water. Sure enough, we had cold showers the next morning. The fire alarm also went off twice in the middle of the night. We didn’t enjoy the stay much at all.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the fridge and cable both worked. Staff were pretty nice, too. I stayed May 23-26 for my birthday weekend, and relaxing in the shade by the pool was nice, even though it looked kind of dirty to me and could’ve used a cleaning. My sister got locked in the pool area after it closed at 10. I guess maintenance didn’t notice her when they came to lock up, but staff came and let her out. The hotel’s older, so I wasn’t expecting much. The doors to both the room and bathroom were a little off, and I had to shut them really hard to make sure they latched. The tub stopper was broken, and the walls are thin enough that you hear what the neighbors are up to. Those were my only complaints.
