Orchid House

This South Beach gem was a wonderful setting for a private, relaxing, and fun weekend with my husband and three other couples. The villas are luxurious, well kept under the new management, and peaceful and quiet. Once outside, the beach is just across the street, and Lincoln Rd is within walking distance for shopping. Restaurants, places to grab food, and clubs are all walkable too, so you don't need a car. A perfect getaway, totally recommend it.

I was very upset, and this was a terrible start to my day. After we left, I still hadn't heard from Claudia by Monday with an apology or explanation. The customer service is ridiculous, and I won't be giving them a dollar. I'd arranged a Saturday 9 am tour of The Orchid House because I'm getting married next year and was considering it for the wedding and reception. Claudia had been lovely and informative on the phone. I drove from Broward County with my mother, maid of honor, and bridesmaids, and called when we were close to say we'd be a few minutes late. No one answered, so I left a message. I parked in the garage across the street, then we rang the bell and waited at the door. No one came. After about 10 minutes, I called again; it rang once and went to voicemail, as if the call was being declined. I texted to say I was outside for my 9 am appointment. They replied that there'd been a last-minute check-in at midnight for an event that day, so Claudia couldn't show us the property and would call to arrange another day. I said it was incredible and unprofessional to make me drive all that way without anyone calling to let me know. They apologized and said the check-in was at 1 in the morning. I replied that I could have heard a message in the morning and that being there with my mother and bridesmaids was embarrassing. The person texting me, Adriana, wouldn't pick up and speak with me, only declining my calls.

We still have 14 nights left from the 42-night rental agreement we signed in May 2011 with The Mediterranean Mansion, also now called The orchid House. We used 14 nights in 2011 and another 14 in 2012, and the agreement was valid through December 2014. When we tried to book for the end of the year, the new owner's representative, Mrs Claudia Valdes, said she knew nothing about the contract. We sent her a copy and proof of payment, but she said the owner wouldn't honor the remaining nights. Now we'll have to deal with a lawyer to sort this out. The property is very well located and comfortable, but I consider the owner dishonest. Be very careful and don't make any down payment. Once you're inside, you can unwind completely, even though you're right in the middle of South Beach. It's a beautiful place, and the location is ideal. I was impressed as soon as I walked in. Highly recommend!
