The location is about the only real draw here. The place feels more like a motel and should be rated one or two stars, not three. Staff were generally not very accommodating, the floors were stained and dirty, and the rooms were cramped. The air conditioners apparently “break” if you adjust them, though luckily we were there on Miami’s coldest day in years. The sheets were clean and the beds comfortable, but basic things you’d expect were missing, like help holding bags after checkout. It’s functional, but definitely not frilly. Maybe the price is good for South Beach, but you get what you pay for. I wouldn’t stay again.

The street noise at night was noticeable, which may be an issue if you sleep lightly. The room itself was comfortable enough, but small and short on extras, with no pool or gym. Breakfast was included with the resort fee, which was handy, though nothing fancy. Casa Boutique Hotel has a clean, modern feel in a compact boutique setting. I found the staff I met friendly and helpful. Its Washington Avenue location is convenient, just a short walk from the beach and close to restaurants and places I wanted to visit, so I didn’t need a car. For an affordable stay near the beach and nightlife, it worked for me, as long as you’re not looking for lots of amenities or a quiet retreat.

After more than 10 hours of travel from the UK with our baby, we expected a simple check-in. Instead, it became one of the most stressful hotel stays we’ve had. There was no staff on site when we arrived. We were told to pay at a self-service machine beside a restaurant, where the room key was activated. Once in the room, we found there was no cot, despite requesting one in advance for our infant. I went downstairs and saw a sign saying there are no staff after 12 pm and guests should use a WhatsApp number for help. We waited, then were told nobody could assist until the next day. There was no attempt to solve the problem, and no manager or night staff physically present. All communication was remote over WhatsApp, and the messages were badly written, overly casual, and unprofessional. One reply said, “Sorry about that , contact you three party and request de refund”. At a moment when we needed urgent help, the whole setup felt deeply unreliable and concerning. With no safe place for our baby to sleep, we couldn’t stay and had to find other accommodation late that evening. We were told a note would go to management to arrange a refund, which reassured us that at least the situation would be handled fairly. But after six days of ignored messages and emails, the hotel finally replied on WhatsApp and refused to refund us. Although we had told them within an hour of checking in that we had to leave, they said the room had technically been available for the full stay and that a cot wasn’t guaranteed, despite advertising free cots on request. The lack of on-site help, remote-only messaging, and poor communication left us uncomfortable and unsupported. We’d strongly caution others before booking. Try the Plymouth hotel instead, they were great and actually felt like a boutique hotel.

The front desk employee tried hard to help, was apologetic, and showed us that her system wouldn’t let her lower the temperature. This seems like an ownership and property management failure, not a staff problem. After staying here twice before, with results that were only tolerable, I won’t come back. This was the worst hotel stay I’ve had. We had booked a king, but were assigned room 311 with two full beds. The only alternative, the front desk said, smelled moldy, and no other rooms were available. The AC was master-controlled and wouldn’t go below 74 degrees. By morning it was 81 and extremely humid. I’d honestly have rather slept outside. I’ve never been somewhere I couldn’t control the temperature myself, and it’s completely unacceptable. The sheets didn’t fit properly and came loose at a corner whenever someone sat down. The carpets were so dirty that we wore shoes the whole time.
