The clean white towels and linens seemed recently replaced, and the resort fee includes two beach chairs each day, which is good value for this strip. But I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The building is badly run down despite the friendly staff. My bathroom towel rack was nearly off the wall, with the screws exposed; there was black mold on the bath and shower faucet handle, and the drain wasn’t intact. The carpet was old, dirty around the edges, and had bleached patches. As a woman traveling alone, I was uneasy that the door had no secondary hinged lock. The closet safe wasn’t attached to anything, so you could lift it right off the shelf. There was just one room light, by the front door, so reading in bed wasn’t possible. Even the hair dryer got so hot on low that I worried my hair might catch fire.
The staff were all very nice, and the location is good for the price. We were in room 607, which was pretty clean, and we didn’t see any of the bugs or mold mentioned in some reviews. Still, there’s no deadbolt, and the bathroom door won’t shut all the way. We had hot showers on four of our five days; the other one was lukewarm. Housekeeping came so late the first two days that we were already back in the room, then cleaned early after we asked on day three. Nobody came the following day. One elevator is out of order, and the one that works is slow and really hot, with no AC or fan. I asked about using the stairs, but was told they’re for emergencies only. One morning there were no beach towels, so one of us walked back from the beach, about twenty minutes each way. They do provide loungers, but an umbrella costs $25 a day. The price and location are good, and it wasn’t awful, but I don’t think we’ll return.
The front desk woman listened calmly when I told her my purse was missing, took my details, and even photographed it. After that, neither she nor the manager ever got back to me. My friends and I had been out at the beach all day on the first morning of our four-night, three-day stay. When we came back, my Kate & Spade crossbody purse and wallet were gone from our open luggage. I hadn’t finished unpacking, so I knew they were there. It was an empty backup bag I planned to use that night, but it had been a special gift from my best friend. I’ve never had anything like this happen before, and I want future guests to know. The hotel wasn’t terrible, and the staff were extremely welcoming, which is mostly why I gave it three stars. The room got very cold even after I turned off the air, and the shower water was very cold too, though those things weren’t a big issue for me. I know you can’t control every employee, but if staff are stealing items worth less than $200, don’t bring valuables or sentimental things. You could also leave the sign on the door asking room service not to enter. I guess someone felt they needed my gift more than I did. Hope you enjoy it.
The hotel is right across the street from the beach, and the area is quiet and not heavily populated. The pool is beautiful, the lobby is great for cute pictures, and the rooms are clean with comfy beds. Drinks are strong, too. The staff were all lovely, but William, the FD manager, is amazing. He always makes my check-in quick and easy and takes great care of me and the other guests. I love staying here and can’t wait to come back! Erica F.
Things are a little dated, but my wife, best friend and I stayed from 3/14-3/17 and didn’t have one issue. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the staff were friendly. Customer service was positive, and they explained the amenities and what we were paying for right away. My deposit was also taken off hold before we’d even left with our luggage. The water could’ve been hotter, but some of these reviews are harsh. You get what you pay for, and it isn’t a bad place at all. The location is ideal if you’d rather avoid crowds of young adults around the south beach/ocean drive/Washington avenue area.
