The Tony Hotel South Beach

Jamie at the lobby concierge gave us such helpful restaurant and activity recommendations, and was really accommodating. We also had a great time at the rooftop pool during the food and wine weekend. Anderson made amazing drinks at the bar. The service made the stay awesome, and since this was our first visit, we’re already looking forward to coming back to the Tony.

The rooms were a little smaller than we usually book, but with so much to do, it mattered less. We had a great time here with my siblings. The place was clean and looked like the photos, and the fresh, well-arranged lobby made a nice first impression. The team kept our rooms very clean and handled our concerns kindly. Pool staff made sure we were comfortable despite the rain, and an older gentleman gave us useful tips about getting around and things to do nearby. Food was well prepared, too. The lobby bartender made some of the best drinks I’ve had and kept things welcoming. Front desk staff were kind, professional, and efficient, and hotel security and facilities were excellent. We were pleasantly surprised by the experience. Great work by the Tony Hotel staff and management.

We were a group of 13, so there were quite a few bags. The elevator was broken and we carried our luggage upstairs. The concierge said, “you ladies have a lot of work cut out for you,” which was a strange thing to say when the elevator was out and he wasn’t helping. We tipped anyway, even though he barely helped. The front desk wasn’t friendly or welcoming either. Service matters to me, even at an older hotel with a good location, so I wouldn’t stay here again. The rooms were basic, and the Art Deco bathrooms, which I really liked, are quite dated. There was a long wait for rooms, though the rooftop pool was pleasant for getting some sun while we waited. The rooftop staff also accused us of taking a plastic tumbler. We hadn’t taken it, and had to walk down all the stairs because the elevator was still broken, but they followed us out and questioned us about it. Weird.

You’re right in the middle of everything here, with great views from the pool deck and the balcony of our front room, shown in the second photo. The room and bathroom were roomy, the place was spotless, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Music from the News Cafe below the balcony rooms starts around 8:15 a.m., so light sleepers who like a lie-in should know. Otherwise, it was very quiet at night.
