DoubleTree by Hilton Miami North I-95

This was my second stay here, both times booked by my company for a work event, and I wouldn't choose it again unless major improvements are made. The hotel clearly needs substantial updates and attention to cleanliness. The room was poorly maintained and dirty. The bathroom smelled strongly unpleasant, water dripped from the ceiling, and the floors were sticky, heavily scuffed, and scratched. While I was getting dressed this morning, I could smell the neighboring guest using their restroom. The odor came straight into my bathroom and then the room, which was extremely uncomfortable.

Mario made check-in a five-star experience. He was so helpful and listened when I raised concerns about the first room. He was easily the best part of our stay. The room and bathroom were old, felt dirty, and had rust stains in the shower. We moved to another room, but it seemed like the same general problem. The elevator was shaky, and breakfast was dry, tasteless, and burnt in places. We couldn't wait to leave for another hotel. I wouldn't recommend this place.

The lobby has a pretty, cozy feel, and parking is adequate, though $16 a night is ridiculous. The food was very good, and the cook seemed like a nice guy. The front desk staff came across as nonchalant, like they didn't really want to be at work. The outside drive-up area could use a cleaning.

Mario at the front desk is why we'd come back. He was friendly, professional, and clearly knew what he was doing, even though he'd only been there a few weeks. Check-in was incredible, and we felt lucky to meet him. The hotel is fortunate to have him as one of the first people guests encounter.
