Fortuna House Apartments

The people there are incredibly nice, and it's a nice place in a great location if you can put up with the issues. For what you're paying, they should be more diligent about cleaning. The bathrooms need a good scrub, the room could use more attention, and the pots and pans were dirty. Some dishes had cracks in them. They say parking is free, but cars get towed regularly and they do nothing about it. Stay at your own risk!

We loved finding Fortuna House, and now that we can afford to stay a few nights instead of just one, we'll come down more often. The rate was great, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. It's not a traditional hotel with much of a lobby, but the rooms are super spacious and have a vintage feel. The kitchenette was handy for keeping fruit and yogurt for snacks. Everything was clean, with fresh decor that doesn't feel dated. We could leave the car and walk or take a short cab ride to several day and night hot spots. It was also great to have the free shuttle around downtown. We loved Miami before, and this place gave us a good bang for our buck. Give it a try, you'll be glad you did.

Housekeeper Lilia and the owner made us feel welcome from the start when we stayed Sunday 4/7/18, the day before my cruise. It's small and quaint, but the service was great and worth the money. I loved the vibe and atmosphere and will definitely stay again. You can walk down the street to enjoy the bay view, and there are great restaurants, shopping, a corner store, banks, and a Publix grocery store within walking distance. There isn't on-site parking, despite what several booking sites say. You have to park on the street, and it looked kind of sketchy. I live in the Bronx, so that's saying something. The building is dirtier than my neighborhood and looks like it's falling apart. The amenities may technically be there, but I wouldn't want to use them when the stay is this uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend it. We stayed in January, and the place was dirty. When we found hair in the bed, the woman at the front desk said the cleaning lady had just gotten a new wig. She called the cleaner in front of us and cursed her out, which made it seem like this wasn't the first time.
