Courtyard Milwaukee Downtown

Our suite was spacious, and the king bed was comfortable. The pullout couch wasn't, but the front desk quickly brought a couple of rollaway beds when we called, which fixed it. Staff were consistently friendly and helpful, and we'd definitely stay again. We were in town for a dance competition at the Baird Center, directly across the street from the Courtyard by Marriott Milwaukee Downtown. The attached 3rd Street Market Hall also made it easy to walk through and reach lots of food options. Breakfast was better than expected and convenient. Parking was attached as well, at $22 per day with in-and-out privileges, so coming and going all weekend was easy. We really enjoyed the stay.

Parking was the main drawback. On-site parking costs extra, which can be frustrating when cheaper options are only a block away. That's something to factor in if you're bringing a car. Otherwise, Courtyard by Marriott Milwaukee Downtown was clean and well kept, with excellent service and a welcoming, professional atmosphere. Management seems to run things efficiently. Its location is handy for the convention center and other popular areas, whether you're here for work or leisure. I recommend it for the cleanliness, service, and location, just be prepared for the parking cost.

Please be careful and consider this before booking. On Saturday night, while I was in the pool, water splashed into the drains and there was a cockroach and bug problem at infestation level. I told Antonio at the front desk. He seemed concerned at the time and asked me to come back the next day to speak with the engineer. He also gave me the assistant manager's information. The next morning, on my way to speak with staff as Antonio had directed, I stopped by the pool to see if anything had been done. A family was swimming there. The GM was present but didn't give her name. She said she knew about the issue and it had already been handled, which was why the pool was open again. This was less than 10 hours later. She said it was a known problem caused by the pool drains connecting to city drain lines. To me, that sounds like an acknowledgment of a hotel failure. I can't be sure, but I have to believe proper mitigation would take longer. FYI, this has already been reported to the health department.

I'm Marriott platinum and booked this hotel for a work conference. They got over 2' of snow the night before I was due to leave, and my flight was canceled. I tried unsuccessfully to find another flight for the next 24 hours, then called to cancel my reservation. They said I couldn't cancel because of the reservation, even when I asked for a manager. I called Marriott customer service, and they contacted the hotel. The hotel told them I'd checked in by mobile, which wasn't true. I've never used mobile check-in with Mariott and I'm not even set up for it. While I was on the call with customer service, I checked my credit card to file a chargeback and saw they'd just charged another $150 for no reason. Never stay here. Milwaukee has plenty of good options.
