Huffman House

The hosts were warm, attentive, and full of useful tips about the area. Huffman House is a beautifully preserved historic home, decorated with lovely antiques. We’d happily recommend it.

We were so comfortable in the spacious king room, with plenty of storage and a pleasant, updated private bathroom. There was enough room to stay for weeks without feeling cramped. The hosts were charming and informative, and easy to talk with. Breakfast and coffee were just right, with a proper home-cooked meal. There’s ample off-street parking in a lovely, very safe neighborhood. Both Huffman properties, Huffman House and Huffman Manor two doors down, are gracious historic homes. We’ve stayed in both now, and each visit feels like a treat.

We were in Minden for a wedding for parts of three days, and found our stay really relaxing. I’d never tried a bed and breakfast before, so it was a nice change from the hotels and motels I knew. Our large room had a comfortable four-poster bed, private bath with a full tub and shower, a small fridge, and a microwave. The gardens were blooming with roses, azaleas, and ferns. We enjoyed coffee on the front porch and the view of the beautiful homes nearby. Our hosts were kind and made us feel welcome and valued, and breakfast was tasty with generous portions. The interior feels homey without being fussy, despite the beautiful street-facing exterior. We didn’t have the weather or time to use the pool or outdoor kitchen, though those would be a bonus in good weather. One thing to keep in mind in a two- or three-story house is the stairs, so anyone with bad knees should ask where their room is. We really enjoyed the change.

Kim and Jim gave us such warm hospitality, including leaving a bottle of wine in our room when they learned we were on our honeymoon. The room was nicely decorated, had its own bathroom, and a comfortable bed. Huffman House is within walking distance of downtown Minden, where there are some great restaurants and shops. And breakfast was phenomenal, definitely better than a hotel breakfast. Thanks again to Kim and Jim!
