Country Yard Inn and Suite

I only ended up here as an emergency backup after Super 8 couldn't find my reservation. I wouldn't come back. The lot was dark and sketchy, and some of the guests seemed bleak. The only bright spot was the little Casino out front, where I won a few dollars as I left. The desk did at least know how to use Booking. Com to find my accommodation. Inside, everything was nasty: there were roaches, crusty socks under the headboard, and a filthy fridge and microwave. I didn't even keep my belongings in the room. At least there weren't bedbugs or any still-moist blood.

The WiFi was unbelievably bad, so bad it might as well not have been there. For a budget motel, the daily rate was great, but the dated rooms could have been cleaner. The windows and mirrors were a mess, and stained, dirty pillows showed beneath the clean pillowcases. I saw no bugs, which had worried me after reading other reviews. Furniture other than the bed seemed fairly new and worked well for a motel, with handy plugs for devices and outlets on the front of the TV cabinet for a Firestick. The lobby smelled strongly of curry. Coffee supplies in the room hadn't been replaced after the previous guest. Better housekeeping and some paint outside would make a big difference.

Mike is a great manager. I stayed two nights and found the property clean, with amazing service. Good coffee, and the place is cheap and reliable.

On our way home from GA, we picked this place because it was cheap and offered a smoking room. We lasted two hours. When I went to plug in my phone, there was a cockroach on the counter, so we left right away. They refused a refund, saying we only had 30 minutes from check-in. That's a $60 loss. The room was dirty even after we waited 20 minutes for her to clean it.
