I was angry about this, and it could have been settled easily after my first complaint to the desk clerk. If this location had replied to my first letter, I might have reconsidered staying with Hampton Inns. Instead, you've only chosen to respond to public reviews, and I'll keep replying if you respond again. I find it telling that you answered a public complaint but ignored my direct complaint to the desk clerk and two letters. The corporate office had to intervene directly before I got a refund for one pet fee. The clerk, whose name I'm withholding for now, told me the second fee was due to a corporate policy change. Corporate emailed me to say the policy hadn't changed, while someone at your location had changed the pet policy form to charge a second fee. The clerk wasn't truthful. Whether he acted alone or was coached, that isn't integrity.

The rooms were clean, breakfast was decent, and I appreciated having cooked oatmeal. The bed was a bit hard, and the pillows, plentiful as they always are at Hampton, were awful. We were in town for the Minnesota State Fair, and the location was convenient and felt safe. Restaurants and Univ of Minn. were an easy walk away. We parked for free at the university and took the free shuttle to the fair. The hotel does charge $25 plus tax for parking, which is a bummer. The front desk staff were helpful at check-in and check-out.

I asked to add one night at the front desk, but Jeremy couldn't match the lower rate I found in the Hilton app, even though I showed it to him. He also couldn't offer a comparable option at the Hampton Inn instead of Home2 Suites. I've arranged this many times at other Hilton properties without a problem, and management's handling of this was very disappointing. I'll take my business elsewhere and won't recommend this location for corporate stays. The Hilton Garden Inn down the street is much more accommodating.

The shuttle was great for getting to my medical appointment. The room was just okay, with lots of stains on the floor and wall. The pool and hot tub had algae, which was pretty gross.

The rooms are nice and the location is great, but charging guests $50 to park is obnoxious. That kind of gouging will have me looking elsewhere next time. How does a busy, fully booked hotel get so desperate that it needs to charge guests for parking?
