Hilton Minneapolis

The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. The sheets seemed freshly washed without that overpowering bleach smell. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful too. The toilet sometimes kept running, and the air conditioning couldn’t quite cool the room to our preferred temperature. Those were small maintenance issues and didn’t spoil our stay.

The hotel was modern enough and in a good spot, but the price didn’t match how dated the room felt. The suite had two thermostats to adjust, only two water glasses, and no wine glasses or corkscrew. Everything else came at extra cost. The queen beds also felt smaller than other queens I’ve slept in, there was just one nightstand between them, and the pillows were some of the least comfortable I’ve had in a hotel. We were on the 19th floor, and the button for that floor didn’t light up in several elevators. One elevator having a bad button would make sense, but at least half of them? I also like when hotels make it easy to reuse towels, but there was only one hook in the whole suite. We had nowhere to hang them, so went through them quickly. Housekeeping never replaced the two water glasses, either. Since there were no wine glasses, I used those for wine and had to wash them every day. The biggest problem came at checkout. My wife spotted an extra charge of over $500 on the bill. At check-in we’d been told our King Junior Suite had been changed to a Queen Junior Suite. We asked for the King Suite, but the desk clerk insisted the queen suite was better and said we should take it. No one mentioned an extra charge. Thankfully, my wife caught it and they reversed it.

The breakfast lead was a rock star, and Jerome at the front desk was awesome about helping us find our way around the area. I’ve never met friendlier people at a Hilton. Their warmth makes a huge difference for guests.

The front desk staff were awesome, and the lounge and bar top were great. The hotel has a pool, steam room, and gym, though there’s no hot tub, and the view wasn’t great. The rooms were really nice, and I could walk just about anywhere I needed to go in Minneapolis. I’ll definitely stay here again.
